Didn't realize he was still pitching. Lost track of him after he left the Mets. Remember him during the subway series. And didn't he hit homeruns with the Rockies (but really, who hasn't)
I CANNOT wait till the season starts!
I haven't been paying much attention as to who went where and whatever. Gonna miss Mike Lowell this year.
Saw Lance Berkman on the Cardinals the other day. That is a weird sight.
On a happy note, David Cone is coming back to YES. Happiness!! In case you missed it, he is my all time favorite ball player.
Saw more Red Sox games this pre-season, than I get to see during the season. Not complaining though. Watched a Mets game the other day. It still amazes me that I adored Keith Hernandez back in the day.

2011 Season
As I sit here watching the Red Sox play the Twins I am in heaven. Butler just won to advance to the final four. I made a delicious dinner, something I had gotten out of the habit of doing AND I'm watching 2 of my favorite teams in preseason baseball. One week from today is my birthday!
So, the quest to save money has begun again. One thing that is helping me is the website: mint.com.
I am on such a self-improvement kick of late. I am reading everything I can get my hands on, books for work: For Hearing People Only, books about writing: Hooked , self-help books: Naturally Thin by Bethenny Frankel, and reading for fun Late, Late at Night by Rick Springfield.
The new full time job I was so excited about has been cut to PART TIME for next year. And so the job search begins anew. As for this job... as my cousin Jamie once said regarding wedding dresses she was trying on "I don't hate it."
And I don't. I get up and leave relatively on time every morning. I keep to myself and have received two glowing performance reviews. The kid is okay, some days are better than others. I adore the girl I work with. The money sucks and the kid is out a lot but when she's on, POW! She does great. Did I mention the money sucks? And it's a very foreign land, this rural country school.
But it is spring, baseball is about to start next week at this time I will be enjoying Jameson and celebrating my birthday.... Can't be all bad, right?

On my way
So, my "happiness project" is beginning. I am still working out the financial stuffs, but I am excited about my new job. It's a fresh start. A poorer start, but out from the hell that was my old job. I live in a place that I love. I am thankful right now for where I am and what's coming my way.

Kinda Defeats the Whole Purpose
So I accepted a job this morning. A new FULL TIME job. That pays 15K less than if my old job were still full time (damn I had it good!) and about 7K less than what I would be making with my old part time job plus a new part time job. *sigh* How is it that I keep going DOWN the pay scale?

Irony
So, I find it ironic that Bob Shepard passes away just days ahead of George Steinbrenner. So, when George arrives at heaven (supposing that's where he ends up) Bob will announce him. I also find it ironic that only George Steinbrenner could trump the All Star Game.
Seriously though, it's sad. It's losing a huge part of Yankee history. It was a very emotional baseball week. The tribute at the All Star Game, the first game back @ Yankee Stadium and of course Old Timers' Day. Which my David Cone made an appearance at! Man, did he look good.
The ASG was okay. I enjoyed seeing Mauer start. As well as David Price who I think is the best pitcher on the Rays. I was glad to see Papi win the Homerun Derby. I like seeing the players out on the field with their kids taking pictures and having fun.
Fun. That's what it's all about.

It's begun
So, I have cashed all my paychecks... my big summer check that will cover all bills - BARELY, my June check for the consulting job which gives me wiggle room and my mini check from my summer job. I am saving that for my summer vacation. I bought groceries with the goal of not having to buy them again all summer. I am staying home as often as I can so as to not be tempted. Okay, so I did buy a birthday present for my best friend and a Bambi PEZ dispenser (2 - one for me and one for my sister) but I resisted the Pooh, Tigger and Eeyore stuffed animals at Kohl's and their matching books. Go me!
